About Juha Pomppu

I am process and software quality professional with many, many hats: QA Lead, auditor, trainer, coach, mentor, community builder, conference manager, team lead. I've started my IT life with home computers coding low-level demos with MOS 6510 and Motorola 680x0 assembly languages. I don't code anymore but this hobby gave me a deep understanding about how computers work. Today my professional passion is in quality management systems, modern software development processes and software quality assurance. And of course people and teams, because together we are stronger! Over the years I've worked with many activities within this scope; e.g. auditing, tool selection, requirements management, high-level planning, QA and testing metrics, quality reporting, training etc. I appreciate the common standards (like ISO 9001, ISO-IEC 25010, ISO 13485) because they can help us in our daily work. I am certified auditor and can do internal and external audits of organizations and projects. I can create and maintain quality systems, define and deploy processes, methods and tools. I am also ISTQB accredited testing method trainer. I have created training material, sales presentations and mentored so many interesting people over the years. I've worked both in product companies and service companies. In ICT service business my areas of expertise are solutions/offerings (including public tenderings), customer interface, account management, delivery models and steering group practices. I like to work with people and leading big global QA community or small local testing team has always been a great bonus in my work. I appreciate open communication, active participation, respecting all people and their opinions! Together we can share, learn and coach each other so much - that's the real team work. On my free time I am not short of activities. The first priority is our old house, which needs care taking both inside and in the garden. As the major renovations are done, I am focusing on growing chili peppers, building new furniture and improving the sound and vision in the home theater. That's also the place where I then enjoy my favourite music, movies and latest games! Travelling to cities or natural parks with a backpack full of camera gear are my dream holidays. The short summary of my interests is simple: I like to work everything related with quality!
