About Jules Hatem

In a nutshell, I am Jules, an industrial engineer with over a decade of diverse experiences. I started my career by working in various industries and became a Production Manager at a polymer factory in Lebanon. In this role, I honed my team management, communication, and decision-making skills, overseeing food safety and environmental programs. My passion for wastewater treatment led me to found Triple E sarl in 2012, where I capitalized on a patented university project. As the Managing Director for 9 years, I navigated the complexities of water and wastewater management solutions, collaborating with international organizations and local authorities. My adeptness in project management, strategic planning, and client relations was evident in various initiatives, including compact STPs, desalination RO plants, and potable water treatment. My commitment to the environmental sector has earned me recognition and grants for innovative initiatives. I've been active in global events, including Cop 21 Paris and the International Water Summit Abu Dhabi, showcasing my dedication to sustainability and innovation. In parallel, I took on an academic role at the Lebanese University in 2015, contributing to the development and teaching industrial engineering, agro-food processing, and WW treatment. In consultancy roles, I have advised the Lebanese public sector, working with municipalities on WW solutions coordination and implementation. A pivotal shift in 2021 led me to LebRelief, where I played a crucial role in the Hawkamaa-EU (Madad 3) project, a $30 million EU trust fund for a national water project. This involved coordinating with a consortium of INGOs, showcasing my skills in project management, community engagement and innovative water infrastructure development. In 2023, I joined DAI as a Senior Wastewater Consultant for the WSC Project, contributing my expertise to a $45 million USAID funded initiative contributing to train stakeholders and formulating policies and strategies for wastewater solutions. Subsequently, I joined a German international consulting company: Sachsen Wasser GmbH as Deputy Team Leader for the WAMA project funded by BMZ. Here, I provided technical assistance for major WWTPs in Lebanon, aligning with the $50 million EU-funded WW sector restructuring initiative alongside partners like UNICEF, UNDP, DAI-WSC. In summary, my journey is a testament to my dynamic roles in project management, environmental entrepreneurship, consultancy, academic contributions, and leadership in major international initiatives.
