About Julia Allard

I am a Virtual Design Construction Coordinator at EllisDon. I apply my skills in BIM and Digital Project Delivery. I work with BIM Documentation such as the BIM Execution Plan and LOD Matrix. I collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, consultants and contractors. I ensure the quality, productivity and efficiency of the BIM processes. I also facilitate the coordination of structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. I generate clash detection reports and provide creative solutions. I research, and use when applicable, the newest technologies in the VDC field including; drones, robotics, time-lapse analytics, laser scanning reality capture, Autodesk Assemble Installation Tracking, Power Bi, BIM, Revit, Navisworks, Twinmotion, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, 3D printing and more. I also am a Professor for the Building Information Modeling Program at Algonquin College, where I share my knowledge and passion for BIM with post-graduate students who completed an Architectural, Structural, Mechanical or related degree or relevant work experience prior to acceptance into the Program. We all bring a rich perspective of the industry, and we work and learn together to develop our skills and expertise. I am a Curriculum Course Developer at Algonquin College. I create lectures, provide resources such as textbooks, videos, industry guidelines and standards, case studies. I also create rubrics and assessments that align with the course vocational learning outcomes and reflect the industry workplaces and best practices. I also conduct industry leaders' interviews, research innovation and implement the latest and greatest technology in my teaching. I worked for the Government of Canada on Heritage Conservation and Rehabilitation of the Parliament Buildings of Historical Architecture. I worked for Cardel Homes by drafting and achieving city permit approvals for Residential Architecture. I worked for HEPAire Products as a BIM drafter and engineering solutions designer for Healthcare Architecture and Industrial Architecture. I worked for Aluminar Systems as a BIM Manufacturing Estimator creating quantities schedules, preliminary estimating, material optimization, Bill of Materials and provided basic Project Management principles. I worked for Dreessen Cardinal Architects as a co-op student working on marketing and modeling techniques for Commercial Architecture. I studied at Algonquin College for the Architectural Technician, Architectural Technology and the Construction Project Management programs. I graduated with Co-op Honours.
