Background
About Julia Babbitt
I am an experienced forest school leader, outdoor educator, wellbeing walk leader and am currently training as a cycle instructor and bike mechanic. I have substantial experience of community engagement and in my current role I have engaged with many groups and individuals in the BD5 area including supporting the founders of a newly formed social enterprise for women to enable their beneficiaries to learn to cycle and a ladies multi-activity group who are keen to learn to cycle. In my previous role as Programme Coordinator for Get Out More CIC, I was responsible for planning and delivering child-led forest school activities for children and families and running adult wellbeing walks to connect diverse and disadvantaged communities with nature to improve their physical health, mental wellbeing, and local environment. I have developed partnerships with local community organisations, schools and nurseries and also connected with social prescribers and mental health practitioners to enable activities to be prescribed by the NHS, referred by community organisations or by self-referral. I have experience of project management, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a diverse range of projects including fundraising for many of the projects. I have managed and delivered adult wellbeing outdoor sessions and walks for the last 2.5 years in Bradford and beyond including in partnership with Touchstone to reach perinatal women and their young families. I have a Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Diploma and many years of practical experience of delivering effective marketing and communications particularly around behaviour change. In my recycling roles, this was a core part of my role. I have given radio interviews, written press releases, social media posts, website content and blog posts. In my current role, I also run many successful community events to promote the activities that we offer including smoothie bike stalls at local community events, drop-in bike maintenance sessions, and presentations to local community groups. I have also managed and worked with volunteers in many of my roles.
