Background

About Julia Bevacqua

I am an urban planner with a passion for low carbon, sustainable communities. My cross-disciplinary background in planning, business, and communications help me tackle problems from different angles and collaborate with unique stakeholders. My current role in the Environment & Climate Division at the City of Toronto focuses on transitioning more buildings to net zero emissions. In addition to work on programs like the Toronto Green Standard and SolarTO, I am always looking for new ways to improve organizational processes to maximize the impact of my work and to expand my knowledge of technologies that will accelerate pathways to net zero. My other professional interests include renewable energy, missing middle housing, affordable housing, mass timber construction, embodied carbon, and suburban retrofitting. Outside of work, I love experimenting with plant-based cooking, reading historical fiction, playing basketball, and watching Jeopardy!
