Background
About Julia Bilek
I've led a life in the arts, education, and nonprofit world, often where the three overlap. I've published poetry, written teachers' guides for the Smithsonian's Discovery Theater, and served as the visual arts editor for Flyway literary journal. I've edited more course catalogs, websites, and donor invitations than I can count. I even wrote, directed, and acted in a few (ok, more than a few) plays. I fell in love with teaching as a TA working on my MA in anthropology and MFA in creative writing; working with students is my greatest pleasure. I'm a collaborator by nature - not exactly par for the course for writers - and bringing artists from disparate practices together is what drives my work. Get the whole community involved and I'm high on life.
