Background
About Julia Bott
Julia is an educational leader committed to equity, excellence and student agency. Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of Inclusion for the Boston Public Schools. In this role, she is working with school leaders and their teams across the district to cultivate high quality, culturally and linguistically affirming educational opportunities for all students in the least restrictive setting. Julia is excited to support school communities to navigate the adaptive and technical changes of school transformation in service to a more inclusive and equitable education for all. Prior to this role, she served 12 years as the principal of the Ellis Mendell School, a racially, culturally, linguistically and socioeconomically diverse, full - inclusion elementary school in Boston. Over the course of a decade + of school leadership, Julia worked collaboratively with educators, families and community partners to support the radical transformation of the Mendell community from an under performing school, to a thriving, fully-inclusive and high achieving learning community committed to fostering the natural-born genius of each and every scholar. She has a Master's in Educational Administration from Boston College and is licensed as K-8 Principal, with additional licenses in Mild/Moderate Disabilities, ESL, Elementary education and SEI Endorsement. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership at Boston College, with an anticipated graduation in May 2024. In 2021 Julia was also named as the Thomas Passios Massachusetts Elementary Principal of the Year and is a Nationally Distinguished principal. Additionally, Julia is passionate about leadership development. Over the last 4 years, she has facilitated professional development and coaching for school leaders focusing on instructional leadership as a lever for equity.
