Experienced dietitian with a valuable combination of extensive clinical experience and a strong research and education track record. Currently working at CLAN, a charity providing support to those with cancer in North East Scotland, delivering dietetic to those with cancer. Recent expereince developing and delivering modules on the new Master of Dietetics degree programme at Robert Gordon University in ABerdeen. Clinical experience involved working as a Dietitian in NHS Grampian - most recently providing dietetic support for bariatric patients and delivering education sessions to patients pre- and post-surgery. Education and training experience includes lecturing on M.Diet. programme at Robert Gordon University, providing pre- and post-treatment nutrition workshops; “Where Now” courses at the Maggie’s Centre in Aberdeen; supervising M.Sc. Nutrition student projects; delivering dietetic sessions on weight management for women who survived breast cancer; and providing a specialist dietetic service by translating scientific information about food and nutrition into practical dietary advice for the treatment of disease and ill health for patients in acute and rehabilitation stages of care. Delivered weight management advice through telephone consultations and on-line resources for men with prostate cancer. Delivered dietetic sessions for weight management for women who survived breast cancer. Research skills and experience includes research project management working with academics, physicians and staff in a multi-disciplinary team; recruitment of patients and data collection in research projects; leading focus groups as part of weight management studies; training in NVivo qualitative software package; making NHS R&D applications including securing ethics approvals; and liaising with NHS dietitians and University research staff on numerous studies relating to clinical dietetics. Certificate in Good Clinical Practice for Research (non-drug studies). Specific research experience includes development and clinical piloting of a dietary soup intervention during pregnancy; the design and piloting of a dietary intervention tool for pregnant women to maximise intake of vitamin E; a qualitative study evaluating an infant weight loss programme; setting up a study to look at the views of men with prostate cancer on weight management programmes; setting up study to look at the views of women who have survived breast cancer on weight management programmes; and setting up and running Phase clinical trials into drugs for managing obesity.
