About Julia Downey

As a Clinical Research Coordinator at Alberta Health Services, I manage and oversee oncology clinical trials in collaboration with various stakeholders, including investigators, sponsors, ethics boards, and patients. I ensure that the trials are conducted in compliance with the protocols, regulations, and ethical standards, and that the data quality and integrity are maintained throughout the study lifecycle. I have nearly four years of experience in oncology clinical trials, having previously worked as a Clinical Trials Research Coordinator and Intern at BC Cancer. During this time, I gained valuable skills and knowledge in clinical research, critical thinking, and data analysis. I also contributed to several projects in melanoma and breast cancer surgery, which involved writing and presenting research reports and manuscripts. My goal for 2023 is to get these projects published in reputable journals and conferences. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia, where I received a Major Entrance Scholarship for my academic and extracurricular achievements. I also completed two non-degree courses in Physiology and Developmental Biology and Embryology from the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies and the University of Cincinnati Online, respectively, to enhance my understanding of human biology and health. I am passionate about advancing the field of oncology and improving the lives of patients through clinical research. I enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where I can apply my skills and learn from others. I also value continuous learning and professional development, and I seek opportunities to expand my knowledge and expertise in clinical trials and related areas.
