About Julia Evans

I am a 3rd year biomedical engineering student at the University of Waterloo currently seeking a Summer 2025 internship position. I am an involved and enthusiastic commissioner of the University of Waterloo Engineering Society, soccer player and referee, and a high-level, competitive curler. I have made appearances at 3 national junior curling events, such as the 2022 U18 Junior National, the 2022 U20 Junior National where we placed 5th, and the 2023 Canada Winter Games where we placed 6th. However, most recently, I competed at the 2024 USports National Curling Championship where my team, the Waterloo Warriors, clutched the silver medal. I've been named a 2x Academic All-Canadian, displaying academic and athletic excellence at the University of Waterloo. I completed my first coop term with Xylem: Water Solutions as an engineering intern, conducting lab-based wastewater treatability tests and maintaining, monitoring, and modeling test data of a 40 liter MBR bioreactor pilot set to research the effects of cyanide on biomass cultures. Over my second coop term, I worked, and continue to work, as the VP Sponsorships for the upcoming 2024 Professional Engineers Ontario Student Conference. I have also volunteered with the Waterloo Engineering Society as the Involvement Commissioner, ScavEng director, and Council Engagement Director. I did not complete a coop credit in the winter term to allow for my training and travels for the USports, OUA, and provincial New Brunswick Junior Curling Championships I competed in. In my current position, I am working remotely as a Product Management Intern at Xylem. I have been managing outgoing proposals and estimates for ArchPro, Modular, Biogas-collection, and Low-rate Anaerobic Reactor wastewater treatment tank covers. I have been drafting conceptual sketches on SketchUp for clients to visualize their potential covers.
