Background
About Julia Ferraro
Hi, I'm Julia thanks for stopping by my profile! When I was in 5th grade, I was asked by my teacher to be a peer mediator. Since I was young, I have always been recognized as someone with strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the innate ability to problem-solve. In school, I knew that I learned differently than other students. I developed a relationship with my high school guidance counselor, and realized how important it was for developing minds to have a space to learn about themselves from a social, emotional, and holistic view. In my undergraduate & graduate experience, I had the opportunity to do this work at the elementary, secondary and collegiate level. I have over 5+ years of experience in education, supporting hundreds of students at all levels of development. Working at Northeastern University within Educational Innovation allowed me to apply my knowledge and experience to create resources that support student success. My colleagues would describe my work style as collaborative, creative, inclusive, passionate and accomplished. Professional Accomplishments that I'm most proud of: Provided 1-1 coaching for hundreds of students at the collegiate level Pioneered and led a department-wide dialogue around creating a mission, vision, and purpose statement - recognizing that our department wouldn't be able to grow if we did not have a foundation to stand on. Managed our coaching & workshop series for students called "Habits of Success"- which allowed students to explore what success is for them, and to build the skills needed to support their vision. Developed an in-person signature program for first-year students targeted around mindfulness and general well-being, with 150 students in attendance. Facilitated various workshops with undergraduate & graduate students on various areas of academic and holistic student support, with up to 100 students in attendance. Collaborated with Khoury College's advising department to have our resources embedded into the first-year experience curriculum. Conducted group counseling sessions in systematic response to identified needs of individuals or groups of students - primarily with 9th-12th grade students. Operated as an advocate with all students utilizing skills that respect issues of cultural and ethnic diversity and equity for every student and their families. Top 5 Strengths: Adaptability, Positivity, Connectedness, Empathy, Futuristic Myers Briggs: ENFP Human Design Type: Generator
