About Julia Franklin

I found my way to Norfolk via my love for Theatre when I was offered a production internship with Virginia Stage Company at the Wells Theatre after graduating from Greensboro College in North Carolina. My passion for the art form grew as well as my personal and professional abilities in the 6 years I was with the company; advancing from Production Intern to Director of Operations. I was lucky enough to work with many fantastic artists, designers and creative minds in an environment that bred creativity, even as an administrator. In 2015 my partner and I moved to Baltimore and it was a great experience. At first I found myself managing for Heavy Seas Alehouse which was a lot of fun but not exactly where I wanted to be. Luckily, I found a place where I could educate and cultivate interest in children and others who may not have had the joy of experiencing live theatre and arts at The Chesapeake Arts Center. In the 4 years I was there, I advanced from Admin Assistant to Events Director and gained a ton of valuable knowledge and friendships. We moved to Colorado in December 2019 and I am still searching for the right position. It has been alot harder thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, as most arts venues are closed or not hiring.
