About Julia Fraser

13 years ago, Julia was elected as a School Trustee to the Central Okanagan Public School Board of Education. She feels that it is an honor to assume the vast responsibilities as one of the seven School Trustees. With this experience, it is her hope, to put to work what she has learned and to continue as a steward and advocate for Public Education. It is important to elect an experienced School Trustee because the Central Okanagan Board of Education oversees a $335 million budget, employs about people, operates 48 buildings and educates 25,500 students. As a wife, mother and business woman, she brings experience in governance, volunteerism, and business to the Board table to discuss recommendations by staff on finance, education, planning, and human resources. She is the current Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and she values the importance of enabling constructive, informed and thoughtful dialogue that engages all partner groups. She is committed to acting on behalf of the public in a fiscally responsible and cost-effective manner. First and foremost, Julia believes that as a trustee and a member of the Board of Education, our priority is to encourage student success and to ensure that every child in our care receives the supports necessary to reach their full potential. Her goals are; 1) to advocate for stable, adequate & predictable funding which would provide quality, uninterrupted education for students and provide teachers with the necessary resources for teaching; 2) to improve collaboration between the School Board and other levels of Government, local business & the Arts community to further develop our students as leaders; 3) to develop an evaluation process for Trustees and the Board; 4) set goals inline with the District Strategic Plan with broad community consultation.
