About Julia Galvan

I currently work as the Events Lead for the Peninsula College Fund, a nonprofit that serves first-generation, low-income college students. I spearhead events for our scholars, donors, mentors and volunteers. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2020. During my time at Cal Poly SLO, I double majored in History and Comparative Ethnic Studies. I am also a first generation college student. Throughout my years in college, I have been actively involved in the College of Liberal Arts interning for the Ethnic Studies Department. Through this internship, I conducted research, communicated and worked with various faculty, staff, and peers, as well as planned events that educated others. To describe me a little more: I focus on building and sustaining a welcoming atmosphere for all. Additionally, I am mindful and aware of other people’s cultures and am able to work well with others. I am also quick at learning new skills and adapting to a new environment. I also connect easily with a lot of people because of my outgoing personality. I attribute this to the interactions I've had through my multiple internships/leadership positions throughout high school and college. I am passionate now. about using my leadership positions and experiences to work for a non-profit organization.
