Third-year nursing student who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. For my last Co-op, I worked as a Clinical Care Technician (CCT) at Tufts Medical Center and I am currently working there per diem. This semester I am taking a clinical class for Adults 2 at Massachusetts General Hospital. From my past and current clinical experiences, I have been developing these skills: Assess temperature, blood pressure, respiration, apical and peripheral pulses, pulse deficit, and orthostatic vital signs, monitor intake and output, weigh patient on a standing scale, obtain blood glucose levels, and document all findings on flow sheets Perform patient hygiene, make an occupied and unoccupied bed, place and remove the bedpan Provide oral and nasogastric (NG) feedings, irrigate, and check for NG tube placement Assist patient with bed mobility, transfers, ambulation, and the use of assistive devices Use personal protective equipment and maintain isolation and standard precautions Apply condom catheters, collect clean catch urine specimen, administer enemas, test stool specimen for occult blood Safe utilization and application of patient restraints and anti-embolic stockings Administer oxygen via nasal cannula and face mask, teach patient to cough, deep breathe, and to use incentive spirometer or peak flow monitor Professional communication with coworkers and patients during patient care.
