About Julia Gilbert

As a Junior Partner at Cannabis Counsel, Julia A. Gilbert currently focuses on marijuana law, cannabis business formation and licensure under the Michigan Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act (MMFLA), and under the Michigan regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA). She has efficiently and effectively helped clients. Julia has also successfully handled civil asset forfeiture cases, lawsuits against municipalities, divorce and custody cases, and has defended individuals charged with criminal offenses across the state. She has also had the opportunity to successfully argue in front of the Michigan Court of Appeals. ​Julia received a BA in English with a minor in Political Science from the University of Michigan, and her JD from Wayne State University Law School. The entirety of her legal career has focused on cannabis law; she began as a law clerk at Cannabis Counsel while at Wayne State and continued with Cannabis Counsel upon graduation and admission to the bar. She has found great success in cannabis law both for herself and her clients. Julia’s success has been recognized by Super Lawyers where her peers have voted her a Rising Star in 2016-2020 an accolade that only 2.5% of Michigan attorneys receive.
