About Julia Hoover

I am a former pediatrician with a diverse background that includes training in neuroscience, education, and European History. Currently, I am writing the fifth in a series of Historical Fantasies that take place primarily in Wales. I joined the League of Vermont Writers upon our move to Vermont this fall. In the first novel, the Archangel Michael arrives at Prince Owain Glyndwr's camp and takes Owain's son John to a hidden training site in Wales. John becomes an exceptional commander - but he also learns to travel through time, and eventually, the Archangel changes him into a Demi-Angel: a former human with Angelic power. Michael renames John Arwein and takes his son, placing him five hundred years in the future for his protection - and to allow Arwein to focus on molding Michael's Legion. The novels are about Michael, Arwein, and Arwein's son Daniel, as well as Arwein's future wife, Gwen and Daniel's daughter by Elizabeth Tudor. There is a great deal of history in the books - but more than that, there is relationship-based humor, psychology, and a bit of romance. I have degrees in medicine (MD, UVM), Cognitive Psychology (Masters, Harvard); and European History & Biology (BA, Wellesley). I have used information from each of these branches in my writing, and look forward to doing so with future books. Watch for the Angylaidd series.
