About Julia Itel
I am a PhD candidate in Religious Studies (2021–2025) at the University of Fribourg, under the supervision of François Gauthier and Géraldine Mossière. My research focuses on ecospirituality in French-speaking Europe (France, French-speaking Switzerland, and Belgium). Ecospirituality refers to a heterogeneous set of groups that share a sacralized and re-enchanted vision of nature. In my work, I aim to identify the different currents that constitute ecospirituality and seek to (re)connect human beings with the living world. Passionate about knowledge transmission, I have taught at various university levels (bachelor's and master's) in Switzerland, France, and Canada. I also regularly take part in media interviews, conferences, and podcasts to share my research in an accessible way.
