Make this world greener by planting one orchard at a time. Aspiring Ecologist and a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Louisville, Dr. Sarah Emery's Lab. My research includes an assessment of urban green spaces in Louisville, KY: I look at biodiversity and soil health and their interaction with the environment. My particular interests are around urban orchards: did you know that they are as efficient as big parks in storing carbon, runoff avoidance, oxygen production, and are 6 times smaller on average! I use R amd ArcGIS to interpret and visualize results. Future plans include an establishment of an orchard in Louisville to experiment with different treatments aiming to track ecosystem services dynamics. Also, I want to enhance local communities' involvement in Louisville's nature and provide educational tools for it.
