About Julia Karas

As a Data Entry Assistant at Talisen Construction Corporation, I supported the project management team with accurate and timely data entry for various construction projects. I demonstrated my strategic thinking and Microsoft Office skills by creating and updating spreadsheets and databases that facilitated the tracking and analysis of project vendor and bidding information. I also fostered an inclusive and collaborative work environment by communicating effectively and respectfully with project managers and the IT department. Before joining Talisen, I gained valuable customer service and teamwork experience as a Barista at Charlotte Patisserie and Starbucks, where I prepared and served quality beverages and food items, handled cash transactions, and maintained a clean and welcoming store. I have received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Stony Brook University, where I have completed courses in neuroanatomy, cognition, social psychology, and research methods. Recently I completed a Python machine learning and bioinformatics bootcamp that I hope to leverage to enter the field of data analysis in the future and to pursue a master's degree in data analytics or cybersecurity. I have also obtained a certification in Human Subjects Research from the CITI Program, which reflects my interest and commitment to ethical and responsible research practices. I am passionate about learning new skills and exploring ways to combine psychology with my interest in gaining more technical knowledge that would allow me to explore research opportunities and other STEM roles.
