I’m a driven and detail-oriented Research Technician with a First-Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science, aspiring to grow into a Technical Manager roles. My academic background includes a main research project focused on microRNAs in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), as well as a side project involving the design of CRISPR tools and the knockout of the LAYN gene, a potential therapeutic target in triple-negative breast cancer. Since 2023, I have worked at hVIVO, supporting human challenge trials by processing clinical samples with full adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards, while maintaining compliance with Human Tissue Authority (HTA) regulations. In 2024, I joined the University of Manchester’s Division of Cancer Sciences as a Research Technician, where I manage laboratory equipment, organise and lead training sessions, and implement sustainable changes to reduce the environmental impact of research as well as to enhance infrastructure and laboratory workflows. In my current role, I am also responsible for running flow cytometry analyses and training staff and students on available equipment. I have working knowledge of advanced imaging techniques as I am responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of high-value instruments such as the IncuCyte, OMNI live-cell imaging system, and Olympus Spinning Disc confocal microscope. During my current post I’ve introduced innovations to improve collaboration between researchers and the technical operations team engaging open communication and ensuring technical support aligns with research priorities. In addition, I’m actively building relationships with suppliers and biotech companies to ensure our labs are equipped with the most effective, efficient and cutting-edge equipment and reagents. I’m passionate about enabling high-impact research through operational excellence, strategic collaboration, and continuous improvements.
