About Julia Konefal
I like solving complex problems with creative solutions and cool people. Hi, I’m Julia. I was born and raised in Canada, but my hunger for knowledge (and gastronomy) has taken me on an incredible journey across the globe. One of my first stops was Australia, where, in between skydiving and surf attempts, I somehow managed to find my place in the startup world. I worked with socially conscious startups to help develop their go-to-market strategies, campaigns, and domestic expansion ambitions. After one too many sunburns, I headed home to Canada to pursue an honours international double-degree business program. I hold a BSc in the Science of Management from the European Business School in Germany and a BBA in International Business from the Goodman School of Business in Canada. To date, my passion for business and tech has led me to work with startups, venture capitalists, non-profits, and Fortune 500 companies in Canada, Australia, England, and Germany. Currently, I’m the Director of Platform & Operations at Golden Ventures - a leading seed-stage venture capital fund in Toronto that invests across North America. Golden's portfolio includes; Wattpad, SkipTheDishes, neo, Clearco and many more. I'm also a Founding Partner & Organizer of Toronto Tech Week – a grassroots, community-driven initiative designed to connect founders, investors, and operators through high-quality programming and curated events. I believe businesses can be forces for good and catalysts for change if the right resources are in the right hands.
