About Julia M Becker

Interested in community; in working within a creative community for justice and life. In my personal process, I pursue my insatiable curiosity with joy and love, improvisation and surprise. I am a painter, printmaker, installation artist, sculptor, mural artist, poet, art educator, yoga/movement/meditation guide, writer, bookmaker, designer, dancer, workshop facilitator, director, trail blazer, contemporary artist, horse packer, experimental musician, family member and mother, and vegetable grower. Have worked with diverse populations, in a variety of settings including museums, public spaces, schools, treatment/health and community centers, jails, national parks, community gardens, and private residencies, and for private and public entities. Make art every day. Love to travel. Love to work. Love new projects that challenge me in new directions. Specialties: Soul Motion dancing and facilitating. Creative projects, artistic production, art education for all. Collaborations. Consultation: artmaking techniques/materials/tools; meaningful critique-process; contemporary approaches to artmaking; innovative art and interdisciplinary educational practices and philosophy. Designing powerful, engaging creative curriculum. And most recently, working with teams of software designers thinking about future virtual classroom technology and possibilities.
