About Julia Moniz-Lecce

I am a sociology and business student from Vancouver, Canada passionate about exploring immigration patterns and social policy in regards to education and workplace integration in Canadian communities. In addition to exploring race and immigration through my BA in Sociology and Latin American Studies at the University of British Columbia, I also hold a keen interest in organizational behaviour and human resources through my Masters in Management at the Sauder School of Business. Currently, I am in the process of focusing my academic research on the social integration of Latin American students into the Canadian education system and how this could be improved through policy changes and/or additional peer structures of support. Outside of academia I am also passionately involved in the Vancouver music industry through my work as an audio engineer and musician. I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Douglas College and I have gone on to have worked with major billboard artists such as Jack Harlow, Logic, and Mahalia. I am currently working as a live sound engineer with Sofar Sounds and the Bell Performing Arts Centre where I manage various multicultural and diverse global events. My passions include: Project management, ethnographic research, classical music performance, immigration policy, organizational behaviour, and historical fiction.
