About Julia Nelson

I work for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC), as a part of the Recruitment team. I work with students who attend colleges and universities in the western region of the United States, supporting them as they decern post-grad service and accompany them through the application process. I am passionate about JVC's mission, having served as a Jesuit Volunteer in 2021-2022. Prior to my current role, I served as the Volunteer and Events Coordinator at the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC). Here, I recruited and managed our volunteers who support a variety of our programs and special events, including YES Day for Autism and the Annual Community Breakfast. Additionally, I provided logistical support to other SARRC events and groups, such as the Professional Advisory Council and the Grandparents Group. I have a degree in Political Science from the University of Scranton. Some of my previous work experience includes being a Career Navigator at Arizona Career Pathways, where I provided career coaching and financial support to low-income students who attend the ten Maricopa Community Colleges, and serving in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps at St. Joseph the Worker, where we worked with homeless individuals to obtain employment. I love working in the nonprofit sector. It brings me so much joy to work for organizations that are service-oriented, to better our community for everyone!
