About Julia Ochieng

Making a difference in other people's lives, especially the voiceless has been my driving force. I am currently working for Richmond Behavioral Health Authority as REACH Coordinator conducting daily outreach to clients with serious and persistent mental illnesses and co-occurring disorders to assist them in maintaining safety and overall stability in community living, providing support assistance and advocacy in maintaining client’s financial, housing, medical, psychiatric and social needs. My previous work foster care social worker for the City of Richmond VA -DSS. I became the voice of our foster children and their families in legal matters, schools, hospitals, communities, and homes. I have also worked as Aid & Development Coordinator being the voice of the Kenyan slum dwellers that were ravished with poverty and HIV/AIDS, I believe in a holistic approach to making a difference that includes biopsychosocial- spiritual and economic empowerment of the voiceless/vulnerable people. I believe that a competent advocate must have the required knowledge and skills to do this job. I have Master's degrees in Social Worker, Urban and Regional planning and Christian Education,
