About Julia Pearson

Nature restores me. I love the Pacific Northwest because of the water, mountains, people, and how it renews.While I am a principal at an elementary school in Seattle, I consider myself a student, explorer, discoverer, self-helper, continuous-improver, and expert learner. I truly enjoy the experience of being a learner. I am good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. I am unintimidated by a challenge, especially if it ultimately involves helping students learn.I am fascinated by the diversity of human beings. A great day for me is when I can help another see their uniqueness, strengths, and their potential. And, more importantly, help individuals tap and apply those strengths to be their best. Fortunately, public education is a magnet for good and great people. And I enjoy seeing the best in each of them.As a school and community leader, I help others find meaning by looking at the bigger picture of the world around them, giving them a sense of comfort and stability in the face of uncertainty. This was true especially during the pandemic. Our community needed leadership and wayfinding. We had to be mentally quick and highly resourceful. We went from less than half of us feeling comfortable in the use of online tools to fully delivering our classrooms online. The learning we did together was astounding, and I was so impressed with our group.I want a world where education is truly student-centered. A place where we deeply listen as we hear their ideas and integrate their needs. Bringing this idea to life is an exciting proposition to me.I believe we have the power to transform whatever we think is possible into tangible outcomes. Let's use this moment to evolve for the good of children.
