About Julia Pennella

Hi, I’m Julia Pennella — Strategist, Government Relations Expert, Master Storyteller, and Political Commentator. I spent five years on Parliament Hill, working directly for federal Cabinet Ministers, where I led issues management, stakeholder engagement, and policy development across key files including housing, pensions, labour, and energy security. I’m especially proud to have played a lead role in advancing landmark legislation such as anti-scab/replacement worker protections, the eradication of forced labour from Canada’s supply chains, paid sick leave for federal workers, and increasing Old Age Security for seniors over 75. I hold a Master’s in Public Administration from Queen’s University and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from York University. In the non-profit sector, I served as Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Strategic Communications at Mortgage Professionals Canada. There, I led federal advocacy efforts to improve housing affordability—successfully championing 30-year amortizations for first-time buyers, the removal of stress tests on mortgage renewals, and greater consultation with industry on income verification standards. Beyond public affairs and policy, I’m passionate about storytelling and empowering others. I’m the creator and host of two podcasts:#FEMPIRE, which amplifies the voices of inspiring women, and Let’s Talk Politics, a show that offers listeners a front-row seat to the political and economic forces shaping our world—from Machiavellian power plays to tech bros rewriting the rules of governance. At the heart of my work is a mission to elevate diverse voices and share the powerful stories that connect and inspire us all.
