About Julia Quaedvlieg

As a human geographer, my interests lie in addressing injustice, exploring human-nature interactions, and critically analyzing food production systems. Most of my experience comes from working in Latin America within diverse cultural and social contexts in an interdisciplinary environment. I have focused on natural resource management, conflicts and policy issues affecting marginalized groups, such as small-scale farmers and indigenous communities in tropical forests, as well as fisher communities in coastal areas and sustainability challenges in agriculture more in general. These experiences have made me a motivated and experienced researcher, lecturer, and project employee. I am committed to promoting a critical approach to information sources, revealing injustices towards people and nature, and fostering connections between people from different backgrounds. My PhD research focuses on the development of the cacao sector in the Peruvian Amazon.
