About Julia Smith

This Fall, Julia will be starting the Practicum for her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She plans to specialize in Eating Disorders and Wellness in the Metro Detroit area following graduation. Julia spent her undergraduate years studying Psychology at Hillsdale College. She held several leadership positions in the Psychology department, including serving as the President of Hillsdale's Psi Chi chapter and working as a departmental lab assistant. Julia has conducted two research studies: “Gender Differences In the Expectancy Effect of Caffeine and Placebo” (Spring 2019) and “Media, Emotional Intelligence, and Their Effect on Romantic Beliefs"(Fall 2019). Currently, Julia holds several part-time jobs that incorporate her passion for music and child development, including nannying, teaching private voice lessons, and teaching KinderMusik classes. With a strong interest in child development and Montessori-style learning, Julia finds fulfillment in aiding the growth and development of children.
