About Julia Wales

As a Community Outreach Coordinator at NeighborWorks Salt Lake, I develop and implement strategies to expand outreach efforts to new target areas within Salt Lake County. I organize local events that promote a sense of connection, ownership, and leadership among participants, such as neighborhood cleanups, block parties, and workshops. I also train staff to attend community meetings and promotional events as organizational representatives, and oversee intern and volunteer groups to reach targeted goals and successfully complete independent projects. I have a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs from Boston University, where I gained valuable skills and knowledge in political research, civic engagement, and legal analysis. I applied these skills as a Legal Intake Intern at ACLU, where I addressed complaints and legal claims submitted to the ACLU office, and crafted official correspondences on behalf of the ACLU legal department. I also served as an AmeriCorps Vista, where I reviewed and evaluated formal grant applications, produced curriculum and policy guides, and managed multiple leadership programs for refugee-serving organizations. I am passionate about community growth, international advocacy, and social accountability, and I am seeking challenging opportunities in these fields, with a focus on NGO development and graduate law programs.
