About Julian Black

Julian Black is a Partner within the Tunbridge Wells office of Kember Loudon Williams LLP: one of the south east's leading environmental planning and design practices. Julian joined the Practice in 2002. With over twenty years experience in development planning, urban design and project management within the public and private sectors, Julian now heads our Urban Design department. He is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a Member of the Urban Design Group. He is focussed on continuing to develop and enhance the position of the practice nationally and in delivering client's goals by balancing the competing objectives within the development planning system. Julian is currently managing a number of major mixed use urban regeneration projects and promoting the early delivery of strategic land for housing and employment throughout the South East and the Midlands. He has used his experience of contextual analysis to prepare development frameworks and detailed masterplans to support public consultations and exhibitions and, ultimately, to deliver major urban extensions and new settlements within Cambridgeshire and East Sussex. Julian has also held and chaired a wide range of design and planning seminars for Local Authorities, Parishes and Community groups. Each has crossed a variety of topics and disciplines, including design and masterplanning, planning obligations and the relationship between the planning system with the commercial world.
