Specialties: Grant Auditing and other assurance services (in particular in the fields of education, environment, research, humanitarian and development aid), working with International Donor Agencies, Project Management (on an international scale), performance auditing fraud and forensic investigations - especially in a grant context, developing international audit associations and networks. For the past 19 years I have been specialised in providing a variety of audit and other assurance and advisory services to the EU institutions and other international donor organisations as well as the beneficiaries of those institutions. I have been based in Brussels throughout this period. Apart from the traditional audit and assurance type work, I have also participated in and presented at various training and workshop sessions on compliance with the contractual regulations governing the various grant agreements as well as giving an "auditor's perspective of the common issues noted in our work; assisted in developing guidance notes and manuals to help beneficiaries on various programmes better understand their contractual obligations as well assisting beneficiary entities in their discussions with EU institutions when they have received a request to repay monies following an audit or investigation which has identified alleged ineligible expenditure. I have also provided various assurance and other advisory services to a wide range of EU programme beneficiaries, including: design and implementation of time recording systems, support in discussions with EU officials over results of "EU audits," development of procurement policies and procedures as well as those for travel and subsistence and the use and contracting of "in-house" consultants.
