About Juliauna Meyer

Traditional/digital artist with over 10 years of experience in character design and illustration. I pursued STEM for the longest time, graduating from R. Nelson Snider High School in the top 5% of my class with an honors degree and joining Purdue University as an undergraduate Emerging Leaders and 21st Century scholar majoring in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. I had the privilege of working as an undergraduate researcher with Greg Henderson, studying the effects of a high-fat diet on lipid profiles of albumin-knockout mice, and published an article with JAPPL. I additionally pursued two minors in classical studies and psychology, and was a proud member of four organizations: the Honors College, Women in Science, Multicultural Science Program, and the Feminist Action Coalition for Today (FACT). Creativity has always been abundant in my work and hobbies, as I have spent almost 10 years with the violin and performed as a section leader for the Purdue Symphonic Orchestra. Design-oriented projects have always inspired me and I found myself gravitating towards more and more graphic design- and concept art-related assignments including work from software such as Microsoft Suite, Adobe CC, Canva, and more. I left Purdue in Fall 2021 to pursue my creative small business, Shadooga. I have worked alongside three library organizations in my professional career in several departments, but truly love my current position as a creative assistant in the Children's Department at West Lafayette Public Library. I enjoy applying my creative interests to a youth- and knowledge-centered space, but I flourish when pursuing new creative endeavors. Juggling my small business with a community-focused position brings me a sense of balance and purpose in my space, and I am so excited to see where this leads me!
