About Julie Bolan

In my 25 plus years in the banking and finance industry, I have worked as a banking professional, head of risk, regulatory and financial crime programs and payments domain expert across domestic, international, transaction and wholesale banking. I have a successful track record in developing, communicating and implementing strategic initiatives, transformation and remediation programs in operational risk, financial crime, transaction banking payments clearing, product management and operations. In my current role as Director Payments Markets, Oceania, at SWIFT, I lead the payments business’ development and strategic initiatives in the Oceania region, including the development of our gpi services, payments infrastructure transformation programs such as the New Payments Platform in Australia, the ISO 20022 program and our risk and compliance offerings.I am an experienced leader of high-performance teams. My approach to leadership is people centric; I work to create a positive environment in which team members feel valued. In my experience, this fosters participation, ideation, commitment and, most importantly, establishes a shared vision and responsibility. I believe a great leader is courageous, has integrity, honesty, humility and a clear vision for the future. As stated by Arnold H Glasgow: “A good leader takes a little more than their share of the blame and a little less than their share of the credit.” The financial ecosystem is undergoing tremendous transformation. Being passionate about women in payments and payments innovation, I am excited to play a key role in driving the payments industry into the future.
