About Julio A. Benavides

I am an interdisciplinary researcher, with a background in ecology and evolution, using "One Health" approaches aiming to improve the health and welfare of wildlife, humans and domestic animals. The aim of my work is to contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals by applying interdisciplinary tools including complex modeling, field data collection in remote and beautiful locations, laboratory analyses, genomics, and social science. In an interconnected global village, I collaborate with multiple stakeholders such as international and grassroot organizations, local leaders, national and local public authorities, scientists, academics, musicians and many students. Embracing diversity, I communicate with different cultures by being fluent in the languages of music, sports and food. Also fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuñol. I lead the research team @the_monkeylab I love wild primates, the rainforest, sustainable coffee and cacao, sourdhoug bread, and traditional music from all over the world.
