About Julius Mims

Looking for my piece of the American dream I started my own small business in 2007. With a pickup truck and my determination clientele was created throughout the Twin Cities area collecting recyclables in part with the Green initiative to reduce waste. By going door to door[dock to dock in my case] offering scheduled pickups and multiple recycling services I continued to grow along with some referrals from clients to other businesses. Learning to group pickups by type of material,gross amount,area, loading time and other factors I created and adjusted routes accordingly. Spending my days collecting and my evenings preparing tireless hours were spent investing into the company. Already having some experience in auto mechanics I kept up my own truck and trailer. Quickly I learned to prepare and dismantle machines for scrap metal which I did for several years until prices started to decline. Noticing a decline in pricing for scrap and precious metal I turned my attention to my other materials and determined moving pallets was a more viable option as they took less labor to move and or repair, also less wear and tear on the trucks. As my pallet clientele grew I crossed paths with another pallet service, Independent Sales. Meeting on several occasions we decided to combine forces and I have been working with/for ever since! Over the past two years the pallet industry has developed a surplus which is driving down the costs and now my profit margin. Looks like its time to gracefully bow out, Sadly! My hope now is that I find a position where my hard work, patience, perseverance, vision and determination will translate and be put to good use.
