About Julius Ooko Obiero

Julius is an experienced and reliable public health specialist with over ten years of experience in public health and TB/HIV program management, focusing on TB, HIV/AIDS, and reproductive health services in the public, faith-based, and private health sectors. Julius is the Service Delivery Advisor – TB/HIV Clinical services at the USAID-funded Jamii Tekelezi Program (UJTP) in cluster 3 counties (Embu, Meru, Nyandarua, and Tharaka Nithi). He provides technical assistance/mentorship and direct implementation of comprehensive, evidence-based, and tailored evidence–based prevention, care, support, and treatment interventions in established health facilities. In addition, he champions the use of evidence–based interventions along the continuum of HIV care services by guiding adherence to the principles of continuous quality improvement through data. Before joining UJTP, Julius worked for the CDC-funded CHS-Shinda Project in Nyanza as a Senior Technical Manager-HIV services in Siaya County, TB/HIV care and treatment senior program officer at the CDC-funded ICAP-Imarisha project in Nyanza and lower eastern, and the HIV Care and Treatment Program Officer in the USAID-funded APHIA PLUS KAMILI with LVCT health. He oversaw the planning and implementation of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services in line with the National HIV Prevention and Treatment guidelines and Ca cervix integration. Julius was awarded the best program officer in the USAID-Funded APHIAPLUS KAMILI after successfully implementing effective HIV service delivery in 2014. Julius is highly resourceful, self-directed, innovative, and committed to delivering program objectives with minimum supervision. His main attributes derive from using participatory approaches in addressing public health problems, emphasizing social equity and justice. Julius holds a master of science degree in epidemiology and disease control, a bachelor’s degree in public health, a Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery, a Diploma in Supervision, a Diploma in Mental health, a Diploma in Health Studies, and a Diploma in Project Management. Julius is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Health.
