About Jun Kitagawa

Who I am: I am a half-Japanese, half-Filipino raised in the small island of Saipan (one of the islands of the Northern Mariana Islands) I have a experience in multiple cultures with the island-style life being a dominant part of me that helped shape me to become who I am. I also love learning about other cultures and trying out foods from other countries. I am currently a student at Temple University Japan, majoring in International Affairs. Thanks to this course, I have a growing interest in diplomatic relationships between countries and how foreign policies are formed based on these relations. Work experience: I have 8 years experience in working part-time in a business hotel in Ginza, Tokyo as a Bell Hop, which helped me develop my communications skills (both English and Japanese). Aside from accommodating to the customer’s needs, I enjoy speaking to people from all over the world and hearing many traveling stories/incidents while sharing a bit of my own. I also currently work at another part-time job which I have started in 2020 as an Item Photographer and a Listing Manager. Photography has been a recent hobby of mine and this job has helped me to improve on those hobbies by helping me understand the importance of camera angles, lighting, and focus. I also deal with managing our items that are listed on e-commerce websites on various platforms such as eBay and Buyma as well as Japanese e-commerce sites such as Mercari, Rakuma, and Yahoo Auction. Although I am not a professional in e-commerce business, I do enjoy learning and trying out new sales techniques and seeing what works and what does not. Aside from the two part-time jobs that I am employed in, I have had some experience in public speaking, where I translated a message from a Japanese speaker to English in a big crowd. I have also had some experience in written translations where I have helped translated Japanese legal documents, proposals, and signs/billboards.
