About Jun Yamadera

For nearly 30 years, I have been building and leading Eyes, JAPAN Inc, the first tech startup born from the University of Aizu. Today, our company brings together a highly international, PhD-level engineering team from more than 17 countries, working at the frontiers of Medical AI, Cybersecurity, and Physical AI (Sim2Real Robotics / Digital Twins). My entrepreneurial journey began in 1995 with one of Japan’s earliest digital commerce projects. Since then, I have had the privilege of pioneering technologies such as virtual pottery systems, cultural heritage CG archiving, motion-capture for medicine, and AR wearable interfaces. In 2012, I organized the world’s first Medical Security Hackathon, and in 2013 our team won the Developers Challenge at Health 2.0 in Silicon Valley. I also took the stage as a TEDxKobe 2015 speaker, and previously served as the Health 2.0 Fukushima Chapter Leader. Following the 2011 earthquake and nuclear disaster, I founded FUKUSHIMA Wheel, a data-driven smart mobility initiative designed to rethink community resilience. Outside of my professional work, I explore gastrophysics, Japanese sake culture, fermentation science, traditional crafts, and computational creativity—personal areas of curiosity where culture, materials, and innovation intersect.
