As an aspiring Data Engineer, I am an astute individual who is teachable and loyal by nature. I take my work very seriously, respect my superiors, and regard integrity as the most important principle in the workplace. I take full responsibility for my actions, and I am also passionate about expanding my knowledge, while being open to constructive criticism. In my current role, there are three projects I am most proud of, the optimization of workflows, and structures, and the insights of data collected through Power-BI visuals. Optimization of workbooks(tools): Of the tools used, reducing the time spent from 3-4hrs down to 30-60mins (excel worksheets). This was achieved by automating the formulas used as well as using SharePoint to link excel sheets together for a better communication among the different workflows. This was collaborated with the team leaders of each team to produce the best result, as well as identifying any further improvements with feedback from team leaders. Optimization of structures(workflows): After optimizing the tools, the structure of how the work flowed within the department from start to end was done. This created new data sources that were previously not captured which expanded the knowledge of the department. Another collaboration with the Manager and Team leaders to produce the best results, furthermore training was conducted with team leaders and members of the teams with the improved structures as well as identifying any further improvements through feedback from team members. Power-BI: After the optimizations, the previously captured data and newly captured data were fed into Power-BI for visualization. Going through the optimizations gave me an advantageous start to middle point in Power-BI. I was able to formulate data, link various data sources, adjust data points as well as create measurements within Power-BI of the data captured. This was then taken to management and the team leaders for any further additional information needed. Thereafter deeper insights were discovered within the department that assisted in the optimization of managing 3rd parties, improved efficiency in cost which therefore improved overall GP as well as opened up projects for future cost savings and processes.
