About Junghee Son

I am currently pursuing my Doctoral degree in Piano Pedagogy at The Catholic University of America. In January 2015, I earned both a Master’s degree and a second Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Colorado State University. Prior to that, I completed a degree in Piano Performance and have more than 20 years of experience teaching piano to students of all levels. My teaching also includes extensive work with students with special needs, blending classical piano instruction with therapeutic and individualized approaches. In South Korea, I worked with young children in a kindergarten setting for over a year and a half, further shaping my understanding of early childhood education. Beyond teaching, I have served as a church accompanist, youth retreat volunteer, and Sunday school teacher for teens and youth. These roles have not only deepened my musical and educational experience but also strengthened my skills in collaboration, communication, and leadership. I am happy to work as a collaborative pianist or accompanist for vocalists, instrumentalists, choirs, or churches; as a private piano teacher for students of all ages and levels, both in-person and online; and as a specialized piano instructor for students with special needs. I am passionate about creating meaningful musical experiences for each student and confident in my ability to adapt flexibly to a variety of teaching and performance environments.
