About Jussi Ojala

I’m a 32-year-old communications specialist and journalist with a double Master's degree in environmental law and policy, and social sciences, currently looking for new job opportunities. I have excellent communication and project management skills, a diverse education and knowledge-base that translates well into roles such as communications, research and project management. I started my career at the Oulun Lyseo International Baccalaureate DP, where, inspired by media studies, I went on to complete my BA in international relations and political science in the UK and Germany. I returned to Finland to complete my first Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Tampere. My interest in journalism and social issues inspired me to continue my studies in Communication Studies at the University of Helsinki, and in the Climate Change Law degree programme at the University of Eastern Finland. During my studies, I built my professional profile while working in communications projects in local EU projects on circular economy and healthcare innovation, and in a private digital healthcare start-up. I also worked as a journalist for the regional newspaper published in Finnish Lapland. In my work, I was responsible for multi-channel content production, editorial work and other communication projects related to online and print media, social media, research, and reporting on economic projects, environmental questions and other societal phenomena. For the past two years, I have been working as a journalist at the largest Finnish tabloid, Iltalehti, as well as Finland’s public broadcasting company, YLE. In these roles, I have delved deeper into national journalistic work. In addition to internal and foreign policy news, my responsibilities have included front page production and editorial responsibility. I have also worked on regional and national issues related to business, climate and security. In addition to traditional publishing and communications software, I have also delved into video and photo editing, as well as graphic design. With excellent IT and AI skills, I am agile in creating videos, graphics and images to support texts and articles. I have a good command of the bigger picture, and I’m both self-directed and proactive when it comes to teamwork. As a hard-working, innovative and skilled professional, I have been praised for being attentive, professional and reliable, even under pressure.
