About Justin Hufmeyer

I’ve always enjoyed learning, identifying issues, improving efficiency, solving problems, projects, and research. I’m typically not content with knowing how to do something, I want to know and understand the why.I took an unconventional route to become a data analyst. During the most financially successful year of my work life, when I was also becoming a father, I realized it was time to do work that interests and excites me. The money was nice, but I wasn’t really satisfied or happy with the work. My previous work provided me some experience in analysis and project management, but I knew I needed to build the skills to be a good or great Data Analyst.After researching and evaluating different paths, I determined the Data Analysis Circuit through General Assembly was the best way for me to build them. I really enjoyed the course. It was a project based, mentor-led, online course consisting of weekly power points, video presentations, and readings on data visualization, cleansing data, preparing and analyzing data, Excel, SQL, aggregating data, statistical methods, and dashboard design. The two mentors I worked most with were Data Analysts in insurance and tech (Google). They provided guidance and feedback on the projects I completed during the course. Working on and completing those projects was more rewarding than the deals I worked and won in sales.I believe in continuous learning and improvement. I’m excited to continue the process of building my Data Analyst tool belt of skills by gaining more experience with, and knowledge of SQL, Tableau, Statistics, and Excel. I have some interest in becoming a Data Scientist down the road.
