About Justin Platter

As a Military Support Specialist at Olympic College, I assist veterans and their dependents in accessing educational benefits and resources. I also provide academic and career guidance, as well as writing and editing support for various publications and projects. With 13 years of experience in the maritime industry and a US Navy veteran myself, I understand the unique needs and challenges of this population and I am passionate about helping them achieve their goals.I have a diverse background in marine electrical engineering, rigging, and fabrication, having worked as a project lead technician for Q.E.D. Systems and a Rigger for Allied Boats. I hold an ABYC certification as a Marine Electrical Technician and an OSHA 10 Maritime credential. I have also completed an Onboard Drill Instructor Course from the Alaska Marine Safety Education Association. I have developed skills in installation, modification, troubleshooting, cableway inspection, circuit analysis, and connector repair of naval and coast guard shipboard equipment. I enjoy applying my creative problem-solving abilities and technical knowledge to complex and challenging tasks.
