Background

About Justin Silver

After receiving my chemistry bachelor’s in 2019, I went through a reorientation to pursue my hobby of electronics. In 2022, I obtained a master's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Strasbourg in France. In my last year of studies, I participated in a national competition to reduce the power consumption of an open-source RISC-V CPU. My team of three won 1st place out of 12 and a cash prize after improving the energy efficiency of the CPU's cache by 10%. After finishing school, I moved to the Bay Area in February 2023 and started my career at Texas Instruments. While at TI, I have worked on automotive SerDes and Ethernet chips, patenting one innovation which reduces the pin count of devices by 4. I have also been the design verification lead for a new Ethernet product, standardizing tools and increasing automation among a team of 6 engineers. In addition to my design role, I have worked on novel AI/ML applications within the company. For a company-wide hackathon, I led a team of 3 engineers in 3 different timezones to build a supervised learning AI sandbox for other teams at Texas Instruments to leverage. The project went on to win 1st place out of 8 teams and was presented at a company conference in February 2025. We demonstrated the flexibility of this toolkit with a GNN-based schematic topology identifier. Another software project I worked on was a Python tool and GUI which automatically generate schematics for use with our internal EDA tools. In my free time, I like to work on personal software and electronics projects ranging from AI voice cloning software to FPGA-based Sudoku devices. These endeavors can be found on my website and on my GitHub page (github.com/j-silv).
