Background

About Justin Summe

From the dynamic world of eSports to the structured discipline of the US Navy, my career path has been anything but ordinary. With a rich history in professional eSports, including roles as a player, coach, and manager at the globally recognized Echo Fox, I have cultivated a deep understanding of cognitive performance and team dynamics. This experience, combined with mindfulness practices, has sharpened my focus on biopsychosocial support and wellness, especially for young, diverse athletes aiming for peak performance. After serving and deploying twice with the US Navy, where I developed resilience and grit, I embarked on an academic journey at 32, combining work with rigorous study. Currently, I am a research assistant, where I've contributed to NSF-funded research exploring cognitive health. I've co-authored a manuscript and actively engaged in studies that address the psychological and cognitive aspects of human performance. I am eager to apply my unique experience in professional sports, psychology, and performance coaching. My goal is to merge academic research with practical applications to develop innovative training protocols that enhance athlete performance and well-being. My mission. I am passionate about leveraging my background in competitive sports and psychological research to help athletes achieve their full biopsychosocial potential. My ultimate aim is to become a performance researcher and athletic coach, influencing future generations and shaping the future of athletic training through cognitive science. Let’s connect and explore how we can drive human potential together in the realms of sports and beyond!
