About Justin Watts

I am a recognised leader in the water industry with a diverse skill set across water strategy, planning, design, construction and operations. I have a unique balance of technical skills with strong business acumen which makes me a competent leader. I have worked across consulting, construction and public utility environments and have developed a vast network of contacts across the local industry. I pursue excellence through continual improvement which leads to a strong appetite for professional development and the application of new skills. I actively seek opportunities to improve my leadership abilities by taking on new challenges that enhance my capacity and hone my capabilities. I operate on the principle of ‘lead by example’ which brings with it a sense of purpose for both myself and those around me. I find this approach builds confidence within the team including co-workers, direct reports and stakeholders/customers alike. I believe the best way to institute change in complex organisations, is to take it one step at a time, starting with those you can immediately influence by setting an example. I am a safety conscious person and live by the mantra that ‘the safe way is the only way’. For the last 20 years I have been a leader and influential decision maker in large consulting and construction businesses, and I am now a strategic leader in a well respected Water Utility.
