Background
About Justine Kulp
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Chester University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Literacy. I earned an English as a Second Language Program Specialist certification through Drexel University in 2010 and a Master’s of Education degree from Gratz College in 2016. In addition, I am certified to teach Mid-Level Language Arts, Social Studies, and Mathematics. Currently, I am employed as a Career Advisor/Case Manager for Equus Workforce Solutions. I work in the Young Adult program, serving out of school youth. In this role, I guide participants as they reach their personal goals, including earning a High School Equivalency Diploma, employment obtainment, enrollment in postsecondary education, and more. My most recent teaching experience was as a 2nd grade teacher with Accelerate Education, an online private school. This position taught me a great deal about being an effective virtual instructor. I had the opportunity to instruct students using both the synchronous and asynchronous models of online education. I created many instructional videos and resources that served to assist students and parents with the learning process. I also administered Language Arts and Math Benchmark Assessments. In addition, I taught in the Muhlenberg School District from 2010-2018. During my time in the district, I held various leadership roles. I began my career as a 7th through 9th grade English as a Second Language teacher and later became a 7th and 8th grade English/Language Arts teacher within the district. During my time as a 7th grade English teacher, I was the designated cotaught teacher for English at my grade level. Through planning and instructing collaboratively with my special education partner, I was able to truly meet the needs of all of my students. Coteaching made me a better teacher, overall. In addition to my primary roles, I served as a teacher for three years in the district’s extended school year summer program, where I worked with students with special needs. I also served as an ESL Teacher with VIPKID. In this role, I taught the English language to children from China, from the ages of five to fifteen, at various levels of English language proficiency. I have had additional teaching experience as an ESL Writing Tutor at Penn State University’s Berks campus. In this role, I assisted undergraduate students, who are English learners, with the writing process for courses in all discipline areas.
