About Justine Smith

With a background spanning research, government, non-government organisations and consulting, I bring both technical knowledge and practical experience to the projects I work on. This includes particular experience in natural resource management, conservation management, emergency management and disaster resilience (with a focus on bushfire), climate change and sustainability. Drawing on my conceptual and critical thinking skills, I work to create a shared understanding of a projects purpose and intended outcomes. As an engaging facilitator, I use innovative techniques to invite clients, stakeholders and community into the conversation and gather useful information and insights. My approach is guided by a desire to see evidence used to positively inform decision making, continuous improvement and solutions to complex challenges. In 2019 I was a member of the fourth cohort of Homeward Bound, a global leadership program for women in STEMM. I continue to be involved in the program as a member of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Sub-Committee which is working to ensure the program can be evaluated and continually improved.
